Looks like there were no timers there from the beginning (otherwise this
should read "timer 10 added" (assuming that there were already 9 timers).

VDR has a builtin "panic level" which restarts VDR if tuning to a channel
on the primary interface doesn't work for a couble of times within a short
period of time.

VDR takes great care to not just write over these files. It first
writes into temporary files and then renames them to the target file.
So I really can't imagine why you are losing your conf files.
