Check your bit error rate.

I'm noticing with the 0.8.x drivers, the decoder would try a 
lot harder to display when the signal has problems.  With 
the 0.9.x drivers, I'm seeing that I get black unless the 
bit error rate approaches 1 in 40k.

Make sure you're minimizing cable extensions.
