[linux-dvb] Re: HDTV & DVB / VDR (dscaler ..)

Hello Andy,

I am not sure it is a good idea to do D/A - A/D roundtrip to do scaling.

It has been discussed many times on AVSFORUM and it is still a hot
topic.
BT8X8 is really a basic relatively low performance capture device.
DScaler team is still searching for a good capture board.

I would prefer using software scaling or hardware (EM8300/EM8400)
without going in Analog domain.
I ve just tested VDR files playback using MPlayer AND DXR3/H+.
It seems to work really well !

I have been replaying VDR files for quite a while now using MPlayer and
Xv to scale images on ATI Rag128 Pro.
MPlayer is getting better and better every day. It doesn't give you all
the features of Dscaler but it seems to be enough for me.

That's the reason why i would like to integrate RTP in VDR to feed
MPlayer stdin and to live TV deinterlacing/scaling.

I am not sure whether MPlayer is doing 3:2 Pulldown, but that's not a
problem for us as we all live with PAL.
