[linux-dvb] Kernel panics, lock ups and signal quality

I've been wondering whether to report my suppositions to the list for a
while. The recent inclement weather in the UK seems to indicate there is a
problem as per thread title.

I'm running a nova-t with dvbstream and mplayer.

During fine weather I get no problems on any channel and the box may stay
up for days at a time until shutdown.

During wet weather I get many dropouts and occasional lockups - last
wednesday was particularly bad and I had to reboot around 5 times.

Does this point to a possible problem? I'm seeing nothing at all in logs
WRT the crash, so no pointers there. Is it worth me trying to generate
additional logs to track this, and if so how? I'm assuming it's a driver
problem as it's related to signal, but of course ICBW.

I realise that a decent/repostioned antenna would probably make thigs much
more stable, but as I'm living in temporary accommodation that's unlikely
to happen and won't find a problem if there is one.

At present I'm running dvb from cvs in early May, mplayer likewise on
2.4.18 kernel, A7V and Geforce 2 MX. The graphics card is running NVidia
drivers with most options set to reduce likelihood of problems. I do
intend setting up the NEWSTRUCT driver soon but thought I should clear
this before doing so.

Andy
