Interesting -- I tend to grab the ps with dvbstream -ps. Of course,
mplayer can decode the ts now I think.

Here's my SNR data:

  Bit error rate: 14269
  Signal strength: 14135
  SNR: 51143

So I'm getting poorer values than you. I'm getting the odd glitch as
well but mplayer seems to cope (it's very good at recovering from
broken mpeg streams).

I had a look at my aerial a couple of months ago and discovered that
a) it had half as many elements as all the others on the street and b)
it wasn't quite pointing in the right direction for the Oxford
transmitter. I intend to fix these problems when I get a chance, but I
won't be going up on the roof myself to do it.

On a marginal signal, you're going to be noticeably affected by
atmospheric conditions. The signal is better for me at certain times
of the day for instance. I would check your aerial.
