Well, certainly not: I have a MAKE which has:

make oldconfig && make menuconfig && make dep && make bzImage && make modules && sudo make modules_install
Which I run each time...

Running make oldconfig don't ask me anything at all...
To be honnest, I would really prefer an hudge patch against the kernel
tree that one could apply and remove to apply the next one, now I think
I have to take a fresh new kernel because I don't know what has changed
and what I should do: a shame under linux...

What is the advantage of making "link" in the kernel tree against just
patching it?
I don't see any at all, in the contrary, just consider the time it took
us now to find the problem here...

Thank you very much,
