[linux-dvb] problems receiving v-polarized channels on NOVA-s
Hi!
I'm using a NEXUS-s and a NOVA-s. So I'm using the new uni_stv0299.c frontend
posted from Peter Schildmann. On the NEXUS everything works fine. On the NOVA
all h-polarized channels are fine too. But on v-polarization (ASTRA)
MTV Central eg. does work, SAT.1, VIVA ZWEI does not.
> szap "mtv central"
zapping to 'MTV Central':
sat 0, frequency = 12699 MHz V, symbolrate 22000000, vpid = 0x0bd7, apid = 0x0bd8
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
status 1f | signal ac74 | snr ce85 | ber 0000ff00 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal ab4b | snr ce61 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal ac87 | snr ce88 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
> zap "viva zwei"
zapping to 'VIVA ZWEI':
sat 0, frequency = 12552 MHz V, symbolrate 22000000, vpid = 0x00ab, apid = 0x00ac
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
status 1f | signal bcbb | snr db5d | ber 0000ff00 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK

status 1f | signal bb7c | snr da88 | ber 00007400 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
> szap sat.1
zapping to 'SAT.1':
sat 0, frequency = 12480 MHz V, symbolrate 27500000, vpid = 0x06ff, apid = 0x0700
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
status 03 | signal b59b | snr cb22 | ber 00009400 | unc 00000000 |

status 1f | signal b8f7 | snr cff3 | ber 0000ff00 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK

Viewing of SAT.1 isn't possible, VIVA ZWEI sometimes gets a viewable picture.
Using MS-Windows SAT.1 could be view without problems, VIVA 2 sometimes have
artefacts.
I've taken my PC to a friend - everything worked o.k.. So it's a problem between
LNB, Multiswitch and NOVA-s.
I exchanged the h and v input cables on my multiswitch and changed in the
channels.conv every h to v and vice versa. You may guess it, now every v-polarized
channel works and the h-polarized channels doesn't.
The low output volatage is only 12.6V. Does that matter if the multiswitch has its
own powersupply?
In the vdr ML I read something about "- Adding 0.5V to the LNB line (switchable)"
how can I do the ioctl call?
I patched the driver to dismiss the zigzag frequency adjust - The channel stays
locked more often but the bit error rate didn't change.
Then I changed the charge pump current of the TSA 5059 C1/C0 which had only little
effect on the mean bit error rate
C1/C0 (buf[3]|=) 00 40 80 c0
ProSieben A : ff00 ff00 ff00 ff00 12051 MHz
SAT.1 : b000 9000 7000 7000 12480 MHz
VIVA ZWEI : 8000 6000 8000 9000 12552 MHz
LibertyTV.com : 6000 5000 6000 0600 12611 MHz
n-tv : 0000 0000 0000 0000 12670 MHz
MTV Central : 0000 0000 0000 0000 12699 MHz
Why gets the Windows driver better results?
Any further ideas?
thanx in advance
Matthias
