Thank you for this hints.
I might ask you for tips.
At this point in time, I have no documentation on the chips at all. I am
still trying to find some.

Grr... how incredibly infuriaiting!
Okay, I hope someone will indulge me and not get annoyed at a
proliferation
of newbie questions, but..

1) Given a typical Sky customer with coax running into digibox, am I
able to
record *any* channels with a DVB-s, e.g. the BBC channels Sky transmitts
?
Or are they all encoded with videoguard ?? If you *can* do you need a
different CAM module??
2) Since I'm not yet totally put off - can anyone recommend the best
DVB-s
to buy for use with VDR? Preferrable a fully features one that includes
remote control, a mpeg encoder/decoder and EPG (or is that always
standard).
Or is it better to have seperate cards for these features in some ways?

Btw: anyone know why my first post (and probably this one) is appearing
as
white text on a white background?!

TIA.

Jake.
