[linux-dvb] [BUG] linuxtv-dvb-1.0.0 unstable with Nova-t

Hi,

I just bought a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-t for watch DVB-t here in Berlin.
Unfortunately, it seems to be unstable, causing crashes from time to
time. I never had any problems with stability of my Linux system, so I
guess it's due to the newly installed dvb kernel modules.

uname -a
Linux snail 2.4.17 #6 Thu Aug 14 21:35:06 CEST 2003 i686 unknown

from `lspci -v'
00:11.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
Subsystem: Technotrend Systemtechnik GmbH: Unknown device 1011
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 5
        Memory at cfffde00 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512]

I also have a Pinnacle PCTV Pro installed, could that cause any trouble
(actually I don't think so..)? Here are the relevant data from lspci:

00:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 (rev 11)
Subsystem: Pinnacle Systems Inc.: Unknown device 0012
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 5
        Memory at cd5fe000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K]
        Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [4c] Power Management version 2

00:09.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 (rev 11)
Subsystem: Pinnacle Systems Inc.: Unknown device 0012
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 5
        Memory at cd5ff000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K]
        Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [4c] Power Management version 2

Here's what I wrote down after the last crash. This crash, (and most of
the other crashes, too) happened during system shutdown:

Sending processes the TERM signal.
Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address d9070cb4
eip c0129da4
*pde=00000000
Oops = 0002
cpu = 0
eip: 0010
eflags: 00010012
...
Process init (pid:1, stackpage c1219000)
code: 89 44 99 18 89 59 14 8b 41 10 8d 50 ff 89 51 10 83 f8 01 75
<0> Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init!

Any clues? How could I retrieve some more useful data on the crashes?

Other problems I have: remote control is not working, and kernel-log
doesn't show anything about remote-control input, even if I insmod with
"insmod dvb-ttpci.o av7110_ir_debug=1".

Another strange side-effect: the BTTV kernel module doesn't auto-load
any more. Very strange. I now always have to type `modprobe bttv'
manually. Device-Majors are disjunct between BTTV and DVB, so I really
don't know how this can happen...
