[linux-dvb] mpeg encoder/decoder

hello,

i have subscribed to this list, because i am looking for a mpeg2 
encoder/decoder solution. Is there any non software solution to encode or 
decode files or streams to files or streams? Is it faster than software? 
it is realtime? What about kfir or any other card?
