I'm not building it in the kernel area, I'm using the build-2.4 directory, so 
that probably wouldn't help you. :-)

To be honest, I'd much prefer a compile time option that would leave the 
default behaviour as is but allow those of us with big memory machines to 
disable it so we could test it out without stumbling into the "oh damn, DVB 
has just stuffed my machine again" case when we forget to comment the checks 
out. :-(
