k, removed /kernel/drivers/video , now  insmod/modprobe would use /misc.
The box reboots, and tzap tunes to the desired channel (output visible
on TV) - bowhohooo!

Now just one little thing is missing: The presence of some graphical
screen output (aka picture) would make me feel even more perfect.

Use of mplayer (as pointed out bei Stefan Weidt 2 years earlier in this
thread) does not seem to work for me:

Xine as an alternative would not allow tuning channels (automatically tunes to the first entry from channels.conf, strange), 
loading the channels.conf from .xine as playlist doesn't change it, and (whisper)  which app would i use to record any of these huge
mediastreams floating through my livingroom?
