Yep, it was.  I wasn't actually loading that module before plus I also 
didn't copy the dll it requires.  I was using the gentoo packge of the 
drivers which includes a modules configuration file that claims to try 
all the frontends but it misses (at least) this one.  It all (nearly) 
works now but that'll teach me to look a bit harder before posting to 
mailing lists!
