Does it timeout like this straight away, or is this after a bit of use?  Could 
you provide logs with debugging turned on, please?

rmmod ttusb_dec
[unplug (usb) the unit and turn its power off]
modprobe ttusb_dec debug=1
[plug in (usb) unit and power it on]
