You can use any software decoder of your choice. On a 2GHz Celeron it 
loads the CPU about 30% to decode HDTV streams when using a recent 
OpenGL card as output device. Use a high-resolution display if possible, 
the downscaling algorithms of most implementations have been buggy when 
I tried the last time, scale factors below 0.5 caused artifacts. 
Full-screen renderings look just fine.
