[linux-dvb] Re: Nova-T and DVB-C

For the Nova-t, lr6650, kworld(?) and other dvb-t cards based on the conexant cx88, it's a little confusing:

These cards should work with the stock 2.6.9 kernel dvb drivers (ie you don't need to download dvb-kernel) - BUT you do need a patch to the video4linux subsystem to enable DVB on the cx88. Get this patch from bytesex.org and apply that.

One piece of advice: Enable "Automatic Kernel Module Loading" under loadable module support. You need to get a whole bag of modules going in order to use this thing, and it's much easier if you let the kernel figure out which ones it needs!

cheers
Andrew

Hi,

i have some trouble with my new Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T card and i hope that you can give me some hints how to get the card working. Besides the Nova-T i have a WinTV DVB-C card, which is doing fine in my computer.

I was browsing in the archive of this mailinglist and i did the things, that i found about the installation and configuration of the Nova-T. I downloaded and configured a 2.6.9 vanilla kernel after i downloaded the dvb-kernel from cvs. With "makelinks /usr/src/linux-2.6.9" the script creates the corresponding links to the cvs source. Are the module "budget" and the frontend "cx22700" the correct ones? However, after loading "budget" and "cx22700" or "cs22702" nothing happens. Syslog says just the following:

Dec 1 23:39:10 sirius kernel: saa7146: register extension 'budget dvb'.

But "saa7146" belongs to my DVB-C card? Is there a possible conflict between both cards? If i load the modules of my working DVB-C card, i get the following output and the card works very well:

Dec 1 23:12:07 sirius kernel: saa7146: register extension 'dvb'.
Dec 1 23:12:07 sirius kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 7 for device 0000:00:0b.0

Dec 1 23:12:08 sirius kernel: dvb-ttpci: found av7110-0.

Can you please tell me, what i am doing wrong or give me some small hints? At the end of this mail there is the ?relevant? output of "lspci -vv".

Thank you and greetings,

Jörg Behr
