Do you have a log, how exactly the crash looks like? Can you please post the kernel oops messages?

Usually crashes in conjunction with mplayer and xine are not related to the DVB drivers but to the video output, try another render target (e.g. OpenGL if you're using XVideo, XRender, X11 or raw software playback as fallback to test where exactly the problem is).

Especially the XVideo output has been prone to crashes in all known players, usually the machine simply freezes or reboots without emitting any usable debug kernel output.
