[mpeg2] Problems with encoding...



Hi,

I have a certain video clip I'm trying to encode, and so far I get a
garbled mpeg stream every time.  It's particularly bad with mpeg-1 (I get
a good streem for a few seconds and then it breaks down), but does better
with mpeg-2.  Other clips I've encoded have fared better, but I get the
occasional corruption there too.  If it'd be helpful, I can show you
mpeg_stat's output for one of the corrupt streams...

The only pattern I've seen so far is that "kfir ready" displays in the
console at the time of the corruption and then keeps being displayed a
bunch of times, sometimes in bursts.  Also, occasionally I get a "kfir:
irq loop".

One idea I had was that when this "kfir ready" condition occurs, the DMA
buffer doesn't contain valid data and shouldn't be copied into
kfir->mpgbuf.  Or else the DMA buffer is only partly filled with valid
data.

None of the changes I've tried in the code has made a difference, though,
so my assumptions (guesses, really) about the state of the buffer are
probably incorrect.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

In case it's helpful, here's the output of my 'lspci -vvx'.  Notice that
the kfir, USB, and SCSI devices all share IRQ 15 (I disabled the second
IDE interface in the hopes of preventing the triple IRQ sharing, but no
luck).
