Just an idea:

Would be fine to have an "mark audio stream for record" function.

What's that?

Well, think you watch MTV and like to have a certain song recorded.
If it comes you hit a key and it's marked for recording (using a short 
data-sequence).
The recorder checks incoming data in a buffer (say 5mins), if the sequence 
reappears the file is written to disk.
In a similar way it's possible to keep commercials you have already watched 
and don't like to see again from being recorded.

Can that work?
