[vdr] compiling vdr 0.98

HI, I'm trying to compile vdr 0.98. I can load the driver and use tuxzap to
tune channles, watching sat-tv on a v4linux interface on my monitor or in an
external tv with the composite output.

I have DVB under /usr/src and the same dor VDR:
[root@thor src]# pwd
/usr/src
[root@thor src]# ls
linux-2.4.7-10 vdr-0.98.tgz redhat
DVB siemens_dvb-0.9.3.tar.gz linux
VDR

I enter in VDR, for now I'm not interested in DVD (even if I have one, I
will try it later):

[root@thor src]# cd VDR/
[root@thor VDR]# make
g++ -g -O2 -Wall -Woverloaded-virtual -m486 -c -DREMOTE_KBD -D_GNU_SOURCE
 -I../DVB/ost/include config.c
In file included from config.h:17,
                from config.c:10:
dvbapi.h:86: syntax error before `;'
make: *** [config.o] Error 1
[root@thor VDR]#

I can't figure out what this could be. I haven't founf anything looking in
the mailing list archive, not dejanews or google.

I use:# gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.96/specs
gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98)

is perhaps this so controversial version (2.96) of the compiler? what should
I do, install another Linux distribution!? (in every case, I accept
suggestoin about which distribution should be better for embedded use...)

Thank you
Alessio Sangalli
