What do you think about this idea:

everytime VDR changes something in the file structure (recording/deleting)
it touches a "lock"-file in the /video directory.
If the file exist, delete it, execute the find command and save the output
in a cache-file, delete the "lock"-file

if the file doesn't exist, there is no change in the directory-structure
and vdr only needs to read the cache-file.

I think this is more easy to implement than a database.
