[vdr] Re: Controlling vdr via ssh (maybe a bit OT)

Hi Harry,

This is a virtual terminal "connected" to "Alt-F8" on the console (your
monitor, keyboard, mouse)
Try to login on e.g. "Alt-F3" and look with "tty" on what terminal you are.
you see? Theses are "directly connected, virtual terminals" :)

This is just not possible. Try "tty", when you login via ssh and you
probably get something like "/dev/pts/0", because you are on a "pseudo-tty".
You can also try "who am i" and you see from which machine on the network
you came in (This always happens, when you login via network). You cannot
make Terminal 8 your current terminal, if you are not physically connected
to your machine.

Just ssh into the machine and then do "telnet localhost 2001"

Then you can type "help" or e.g. "hitk menu" (all the other possibilities
are in the documentation included in the source).

Hope this helps,

Ciao,
