Once upon a time Gernot A. Weber shaped the electrons to say...

Jepp.

ACK.

The question is: "timers.conf"

timers.conf is a very "valuable" file because it is (at least here)
"100% hand made".
So on a simple backup scheme it should not be forgotten to be
saved.
The disadvantage of placin timers.conf to /etc/vdr is,
that VDR ist writing to to, but that's not more than using
a limited "OSD editor" instead of vi.

And imagine -some beautify day- some one will write a
scanner to generate "channels.conf"...
So channels.conf better not to /etc/vdr ?
I think i could stay there.

"/etc" vs "/etc/vdr"
Placing the VDR-specific conf-files under "/etc" (and not under "/etc/vdr")
is IMHO not good, because those files are not of general use like "hosts"
Don't litter ;-)
