I have not watched ZDF lately.
However, I have been watching 3Sat live and I have seen
occasional picture distortions (audio was OK every time). 
I am using an old driver (December 30) and vdr 0.99.
The picture distortions consisted of block artefacts over
a large area of, but not the entire, screen.
Klaus, did the ones you saw look like this?
