The information is a little bit outdated. The "DVD Specifications for
Read-Only Disc, Part 3: VIDEO SPECIFICATIONS Ver. 1.12" makes either Dolby
AC-3 or MPEG-2 audio mandatory for 625/50 content.

Since most of the content is done by the Hollywood industry AC3 is used and
unfortunatly there is need to decode AC3 for stereo sound.
