I want to come there so I've already searched a bit to find some
informations about satellite TV in the usa:

1) you have HDTV... european friends, you can't even imagine what HDTV
is, DVDs are shit...

2) yes, there are DVB transmissions, NASA channel among them, 155West Ku
band. Watch on www.lyngsat.com or similar websites.

theer are two kinds of problems, the first only ethical, the second
technical:
1) they won't probably sell a subscription to a resident of another
country. But you can solve this problem in many ways.

2) I don't really think that european-targetted satellites do have beams
pointing to (north) america. I had the opposite problem, I wanted to
watch Nasa tv from an american satellite (85West C band) but even if I
can see it above the orizon, it won't transmit to europe. You can get
more informations always on www.lyngsat.com

ciao
