Well the .vdr files are normal MPEG2 files, they should be read easily.
However you can try Mplayer's mencoder http://www.mplayerhq.hu , it also
should be able to convert them into AVI files without having to
recompress anything. Anyhow, I doubt you will find much Windows
video-compression software. Especially since AVI-files are limited to
one hour or 2Gb, nobody wants to support them.
