Are you talking about the patched driver or a patch for VDR?

If you are talking about the driver that works with the original firmware 
(http://www.linuxdvb.tv/driver): there are problems with the original 
firmware and large size OSDs. That's why John reduced the size of the OSD. 
So, you have the choice between a) a full-size OSD and no AlphaCrypt or b) 
a quarter-size OSD and a working AlphaCrypt until Convergence will fix the 
CIM support inside the firmware.
