Does the crash happen immediately after that report (which, BTW, is not
really an error message - rather a hint for the EPG people to stop doing
funny things with their data)?

Do you get a core file that you could make a backtrace from?
That might point to the place where the crash happens.
It might have to do with the EPG data cleanup that happens
once every night.
