just  send  "hitk  power" via svdrp to vdr, so vdr would do the same as if
you  pressed  the  power  button, i.e. displaying the shutdown message for
several minutes and then calling your shutdown script.

but  then  this would be done after _every_ recording, i.e. also if you're
actually going to continue watching tv.
