[vdr] Re: burned DVB-s

Hi Sergei,

Not that I don`t believe you ;o)), but do you have an normal
antenna plugged in? Then you would have a ground. Your LNB
& dish setup (should be) gounded, which also would be a loop
(to the SMPSU of your VDR)

In which sequence (if you remember) did disconnect the DVB?
As long as there is ANY connection in the DVB, you still have
a ground lead (all circuitry of the DVB shares a common ground
rail).

Before you burn or pop a diode, you will need amps of current ;o))
Even the 1N4148 or SMD eqiv won`t pop or burn with mAs. So a
visual search usually won`t disclose a defective part. If you want to,
measure the differential (AC) voltage between your TV set (ariel
ground) and your mains ground at the wall plug. If its not too high
(<1V) try measuring the actual (AC) current. I doubt you will be
passing more than a few milliamps. As long as the differential
voltage is less than what the DVB is spitting out (0.75Vpp I believe),
no current can flow INTO your DVB card.

Lots a luck,
Reinhard
