But who guarantees that no two channels will have the same name?
I guess it could easily happen that (even on the same SRC, i.e. satellite,
for instance) there are two channels on the same or different transponders
that have the exact same name. There's nothing that would prevent that from
happening.

Of course the _user_ will never have to identify channels by their channel ID.
The user will always be presented the channel name and/or the channel number
as it results from his/her channel setup.
