What exactly works? I ask that because I have the same problem and tried
the old firmware too.

My results:

New firmware:
=============

Recording seems to work (.vdr file is growing), but no display on screen
and lot of error messages
Dec 23 19:51:27 eddie vdr[4207]: ERROR: ring buffer overflow (89 bytes
dropped)
Dec 23 19:51:27 eddie vdr[4207]: ERROR: ring buffer overflow (188 bytes
dropped)
Dec 23 19:51:58 eddie last message repeated 104076 times
Dec 23 19:52:47 eddie last message repeated 140040 times

Replaying does not work.

Old firmware:
=============

Recording does not work at all. Driver crashes.
Replaying of recordings made with new firmware driver seems to work OK
(despite the 100000s of ring buffer overflow error messages during
recording.

So I have a driver version which can record and another version which
can replay :-(

System:
SuSE 8.1 default kernel
Hauppage Nexus-s rev 2.2 with bsru6 frontend
vdr-1.1.20
DVB: newest CVS version and linux-dvb.2002-12-08 suggested in the
vdr-1.1.20 announcement.
