[vdr] Strange VDR problems

Hi list, hi Klaus,

I had some time again to play a bit with my VDR installation and found some
strange things going on. I'm using dvbdriver from 08/12/2002 on a regularily
updated gentoo linux with a full featured Hauppage Rev 2.1 DVB-s card, but
no CAM modules or slots added. (btw. it's also reproduceable with the new
driver from last week...)

Today I found out that VDR versions (plain vanilla without any plugin) from
1.1.22 up produce a strange behavoir on my maschine. The CPU load repeatedly
increases to 100% for a second or two to return to normal again. The whole
thing repeats itself every let's say 20 seconds... That's quite annoying as
it breaks MP3 playback when going to 100% I get a hick - but as I said it's
doing it also when used plain /wo plugins. Versions up to 1.1.20 don't show
that behavoir and I didn't test 1.1.21.

Another thing where you may be can give me a hint is the "black screen" mode
of the MP3 plugin as I've looked into the code a bit and traced it back to
the VDR core code. The plugin has a mode where the live picture is "blacked
out". This is done in the constructor of the class inherited by the plugin
(Sth. like player.c?). The strange thing is that the CPU load when playing
MP3 during life mode is around 10%. But when playing in black mode it's
around 30-40% with the additional load eaten up by a system process - not a
user level part.

Any ideas to one of the problems??
And may I use this posting to thank you for the great work?!?

Regards,
Steffen
