[vdr] CAM-Problem

I recently got VDR working on my computer (with CI and CAM). But after
pulling out the smartcard while viewing, it doesn't work anymore. It seems
like a hardware failure to me. Is that possible? I mean, should pulling out
the smartcard cause the system to malfunction? Have anybody heard about
that?
The VDR program runs very slowly and have major difficulties showing the
graphics. The program finds the channel but fails to decrypt it. Sometimes
the  program even just hangs.

I get the error:
"ERROR: channel 1 not sync'ed on DVB card 1"

I use:
Hardware: Hauppauge DVB-c, Hauppauge CI and CONAX-CAM.
