[vdr] AW: shutdown and nvram-wakeup with Gigabyte GA-7ZXE

Hello Sven,

> I have troubles with my VDR and my mainboard - a Gigabyte GA-7ZXE.
First of all, I have Gigabyte VTXH board. Should be quite similiar in
most features concerning nvram-wakeup.
I use Suse 8.2 and before 7.3.

> 1)
> I use Suse 7.3 Professional and installed it like Hubertus Sandmann.
Everything works fine but if I press the Key power to shutdown, the PC
is > not going down. Then shutdown-script is calles but the power-supply
doesn't switch down - yes it is an ATX. Can someone help me?
What happens, when you boot from a floppy (e.g. DOS) and press the power
button for longer than 4 seconds?
Normally the board should shutdown. If this does not happen, then
something is wrong with your powersupply.

> 2)
> I tried to install nvram-wakeup-0.9. There is an section for this
mainboard, but it isn't recocnized. Maybe a problem of the
BIOS-version?
> Can somebody who uses nvram-wakeup-0.9 with the GA-7ZXE or anybody
else give me a hint whatg to do?
Had the same problems with. I edited "nvram-wakeup-mb.c" in the
following way:
- Run "biosinfo" and write down the identification string. Should be
something like "Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd."
- Replace the string inside "nvram-wakeup-mb.c" with the value you
found.

If you have entered everything correctly, then your borad should be
detected.

> Many thanks in advance
Hope, I could help you
