look into shutdown scripts. IIRC, SuSE 7.3 looked at wrong position if you
have ACPI or APM enabled and only then used the "-p" option for halt.

could you send me the output of biosinfo please so I could include it into
the CVS version. Thanks.

as an intermediate solution you may use
   --iwstring gig_ga_7zxe
option.
