[vdr] Re: Hardware project: MPEG2 decoder with ethernet adapter

hi

> Would using the PC/104 industry standard as plattform be an alternative?

yes .. but also relativ expensive :-(

the real solution wuold be the new typ of mini-itx mainboards
from via .. they have realy everything what we need
http://www.via.com.tw/en/multimedia/vt1622pres.pdf
( not shure about irda adapter included)

also TV-out and no moving parts

they are using the via vt1622 as videodecoder
http://www.via.com.tw/en/multimedia/vt1622pres.pdf

looks like this baby is also capable of RGB out :-)
but what i have heards is, that the driver status of
the now VIA chips is not as good :-(

i am sure that it can PXE boot and so no harddisk
would be needed ...

only a very chap case with ATX supply and a lan link
and the hardware is done

the rest is a job for the softwareguys ;-)
