did you checked that the small metal tounge realy hits the chip properly?
maybe a little bit termal grease ...
(be carefull if you open the small metal housing)

usually i open the case and take a 80 or 120 cm fan that pushes air directly
to the dvb-s (temp. then stays < 35 deg. celsius)
that definatly rules out heat problems for the testing

i´m running 2 dvb-s 1.3 and have sot seen arm-crashes since 2 or 3 weeks
(had those problems for a time with a ramdomly taken cvs driver, but maybe
i forgot to recompile vdr after changing the driver)

on my cards i removed half of the metal case and glued (special 2 component
termal glue) a heatsinks

(ok i took a heatpipe, but after that i would say that is only usefull if you
plan a horizontal mounted - lot of work and expansive, heatepipes are best if you
buils a special case where the heat is transfered directly to the case itself or
outside)

to the chip and as i was working on it i even glued heatsinks to all other hot
parts (voltage regulators and other chips)
