Have a p4 1,8 ghz 256 mb running vdr, exim,spamassasin,cyrus imap,vbox,
apache,
gjukebox and do encoding divx on it, while recording.

a p 1 133 would be sufficient for vdr recording if dma is support for your
hd.
recording is not much more than writing a file to harddisk.
