When loading the driver it displays the convergence copyright message,
which slowly fades out downwards. If VDR is launched while tis message
is still visible, its channel display overwrites the original text, but
the "fade out" mechanism still kicks in.

You might do a "sleep" for a few seconds between loading the driver
and starting VDR. Other than that I wouldn't know what to do about this.
