Hello list,
i made a mod of mp3 plugin, which output the sound data to a soundcard.
im am now able to view the live video and audio AND listen to mp3 sound
at the same time
( headphones can be used for one of the audio( or both ).
but you cannot replay a recording, because the mp3 oss is the activer
player.
as far as i know , only the primary device can be used for a player.
so my question is, if for the next version of vdr, this concept can be
changed.

Well, as the name implies, there can be only _one_ primary device ;-)

You can switch the primary device via Setup/DVB, though.

Of course can there be only one "primary" device.
what i meant was :
can the structure of vdr be changed so that a player can be attached to
a different device than the primary device.
so one could write a cSoundcardDevice an let vdr attach a sound player
to this device instead of the primary device.

Well, I guess a plugin could attach a player to any device.
However, it will have to provide its own means of relaying this
to the user...

Klaus

afaik vdr core attaches the player of the launched cControl to the primary device automatically.
only one cControl can be active at the same time.
i propose to change that behaviour, so that more than one cControl can be launch ( if more replay devices are available and fitting for the kind of player)
of course the cControls must be connected to differnt remote control hardware . this way vdr could be made multiuser capable.

but afterall, maybe the gain isnt worth the pain ;-)

regards gunnar
