The GM72V161621 is a 16Mbit Dram
The HY51V18164C is a 16Mbit Dram
So that's 32mbit/4Mbyte of ram.
What is the relation between the two then?

The card has 2MB of DRAM (which is relatively slow) and 2MB of (fast)
SDRAM. The SDRAM is the one used for video decoding (buffer) and OSD.

As far as i understood this thread the memory should be expanded to support more osd features? If so did anybody thought about using compression for the stored data? Because of its nature it should probably be compressed in an akzeptable way. I think access to the firmware is needed, but arent there people on this list with this access?

Disclaimer: I dont known anything about the internals of the osd and memory handling inside the card, but maybe someone gets inspired ;-)
