What about directly connecting the VGA-out of GFX to RGB-in of TV?

Quite cheap, quite good quality!

And you don't have the annoying problems the df-gp project made stumble
(like patches for the kernels, ...).

I like generic solutions as they don't discontinue and we're not 
dependant to one hardware provider/type.
