[vdr] eliminating german umlauts

Hello,

I share my /video dir from the VDR box with netatalk (AppleShare) to my 
network so I can access it via Apple File Protocol. But I realize that 
mac os x has problems with some german umlauts in dir names. Is it 
possible that VDR creates only dirnames without any special charaters 
(like ä = ae, ö = oe, ß = ss and so on)?
