I don't see your point. If you want to see the recording you have to decode
a dvb stream anyway.
If you want to record without seeing anything you can always make a menu
item to stop decoding dvb stream and only using xine osd. 
I assume that if you want to see dvd or divx you should use xine directly
and not with dvd-plugin.
