You want
a) vdradmin's autotimer (Lighweight, easy to use)
or
b) Master-Timer (Heavyweight)

vdradmin: http://www.linvdr.org
Master-timer: http://www.fall-tot-um.org/homes/scin18/mt/master-timer-0.5.12.tar.gz

Real Programmers consider "what you see is what you get" to be just as
bad a concept in Text Editors as it is in women. No, the Real Programmer
wants a "you asked for it, you got it" text editor -- complicated,
cryptic, powerful, unforgiving, dangerous.
