Can you confirm that if you do 'mplayer /dev/video1' that you see /
something/ ? Since it should be a TS, mplayer should at least tell you that, 
and either select the first APID and VPID it sees, or you'll get a garbled 
mess of blips and crackles...

Xine might be a better candidate for playing a TS...

Or even try doing 'tspids /dev/video1' (you'll need the Metzler's 
'dvb-mpegtools' installed) which should hopefully produce something like 
'0 80 160 8191'
