You need to assign the buttons defined in lircd.conf to VDR functions by
editing corresponding lines to /video/remote.conf. Eg.

LIRC.Up         UP
LIRC.Down       DOWN
LIRC.Menu       MENU
LIRC.Ok         ENT

Where UP, DOWN, MENU etc. are the names you have given in lircd.conf. You
see the same button names with irw.

That should be enough.
