Not looking any deeper into this projekt, it seems (by the supplied samples), 
that no semi-transparent areas are supported, so VDR's menu background would 
be either black or totally transparent.

Later versions of xine will use XvMC for hardware blending of OSD, so the 
current OSD issues with xine will get better.

Well, I'm working on a release 0.0.3, which should address some issues 
(lock-ups?) with current xine CVS. But as it currently is only a Sunday 
afternoon project, it will still take some weeks before release.
